Minimally invasive. Efficient. Safe. The Terauchi File Retrieval Kit is a set of instruments designed by Dr. Yoshi Terauchi for removing broken files, and it is now available in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Preparing access to the fragment
The Modified Gates Glidden Drill #3 has its pilot tip cut off, so the canal can be enlarged to at least 0.45 mm up to the broken file. It is used at 2500 rpm clockwise with a brushing motion against the outer wall to create a funnel shape. If the coronal diameter of the file is above 0.45 mm or the curvature exceeds 15°, a martensitic-phase NiTi rotary instrument (60, 2% taper) enlarges the canal instead.
The TFRK Micro-Trephine bur (inner diameter 0.5 mm, outer 0.8 mm) exposes a 1 mm coronal portion of the fragment, spun at 600 rpm counterclockwise in short in/out motions.
Loosening and retrieving the file
- TFRK-Katana V/H: an extremely thin sword-shaped ultrasonic tip that creates a 90° semicircular ditch on the inner wall of the broken file.
- TFRK-Straight (E87): a 0.1 mm cone-shaped tip that extends the groove to 180° until the file is seen “dancing”, and removes it.
- TFRK-Loop (Yoshi Loop): retrieves files longer than 4.5 mm or those that did not come out with ultrasonics in 10 seconds. Loop wire in 0.12 mm and 0.08 mm, replaceable cannula.
- TFRK Micro-Explorer and Gutta-Percha Removal instrument for bypassing ledges and cleaning remnants of filling material.
- Brownie Polishing Point for sharpening ultrasonic tips to the desired shape.
Configurations
The kit is available fully compatible with EMS ultrasonic devices or with Satelec ultrasonic devices.
